Abstract:ObjectiveTo study the causes of death among HIV/AIDS patients coinfected with HCV and/or HBV,and analyse the impact of coinfection on the prognosis of HIV/ AIDS patients. MethodsThe main complications and causes of death among 36 HIV/ AIDS patients(including 26 HCV and/or HBV coinfected patients )hospitalized in a hospital were analysed.ResultsAmong simple HIV infected patients , 50.00%(5/10) died of respiratory failure,30.00%(3/10)died of central nervous system diseases, among patients coinfected with HCV and/or HBV,50%(13/26) died of respiratory failure, 23.08%(6/26) died of central nervous system diseases,there was no significant difference between two groups. No one died of liver function failure among simple HIV patients;6 patients coinfected with HCV and/or HBV died of endstage liver disease ,which accounting for 23.08% of HCV and/or HBV coinfected patients.ConclusionPulmonary infection and central nervous system diseases are the main causes of death in AIDS patients, and is the same causes of death in HIV/AIDS patients coinfected with HCV and/or HBV.
